INSIDE THE 2023 GREATEST OF ALL TIME (G.O.A.T.) YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH EXPO
The 2023 Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T.) Youth Mental Expo hosted its annual event last weekend at Bowie State University.
Presented by Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas, in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Health Department, Step Forward, and the Bowie State University Graduate Student Association, the expo included a plenary session, workshops, and exhibitors from health, mental health, and behavioral health agencies primarily geared toward young people, their caregivers, and providers.
In addition, the program featured a dynamic line-up of interactive live entertainment to inspire and empower youth and young adults.
Chardelle Moore facilitated an Expressive Arts Workshop with Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist Corrona Boston titled “Redefining Mental Health Through Expressive Arts.”
During their interactive presentation, they explored the impact of the arts on mental health through the lens of poetry and visual art, along with a screening and discussion of Chardelle Moore’s single “Inner Gangsta,” performances from her debut album Inward Awakening, and a self-expression developmental activity where youth and caregivers created their own art piece to share with others on how they take care of their mental health.
