A Message by Chardelle Moore on Juneteenth
A lot of times when I'm afraid to do something, I think about the strength of my ancestors. Their courage and resilience are truly unmatched. I ask myself, 'Char, what are you scared for? Look at where you come from.' Instantly, a fire ignites within me, and the fear dissipates. That's the power of God. That's the voice of the ancestors.
I'm immensely grateful for the remarkable bravery displayed by my ancestors, who firmly believed in their worth and fought relentlessly for what is right, even in the face of inhumane oppression. Although there is still a long journey ahead in the pursuit of equality for Black people in America, I am committed to playing my part in empowering both myself and others along the way.
On this Juneteenth, let us pay homage to our brilliant ancestors and always remember the strength they possessed. They paved the path that led us to the world we live today.
